UE CORNELLÀ TO COMPETE IN THE MESSI CUP

UE Cornellà will take part in the second edition of the Messi Cup. The club’s U16 team will represent Cornellà at the tournament, which will be held in Miami from October 25 to November 1, 2026. The Messi Cup brings together U16 teams and returns following the success of its inaugural edition.

The competition will double the number of participating teams this year, increasing from eight to sixteen. UE Cornellà will compete alongside some of the best clubs in the world, with the line-up featuring Inter Miami CF, Ajax, Inter Milan, Atlético de Madrid, Benfica, FC Barcelona, Palmeiras, Arsenal, Newell’s Old Boys, Flamengo, Manchester City, Boca Juniors, River Plate, Independiente del Valle and Chelsea.

Taking part in the Messi Cup will allow UE Cornellà’s U16 players to compete at the highest international level and share experiences with some of the most prestigious football academies in the world.

“The Messi Cup was created so that the boys can experience something unique, both on and off the pitch, at a very important stage of their development, and so that they can begin to understand what it means to compete at the highest international level. We are very happy to see how the tournament is growing and to be able to bring together players from so many great clubs around the world so that they can compete, share experiences and, above all, enjoy football,” explained Leo Messi.

UE Cornellà’s U16 team, coached by Adrián López Herrera, competes in the División de Honor U16, alongside the top teams in Catalonia.
