CORNELLÀ RETURN TO ACTION WITH A TRIP TO POBLA DE MAFUMET
UE Cornellà’s men’s first team will face the sixth matchday of Group 5 of the Tercera RFEF this Sunday with an away fixture against CF Pobla de Mafumet. The Greens head into the clash with six points from four matches, having recorded one win and three draws, and will be looking to get back to winning ways as they return to competition.
Cornellà were unable to play their fifth matchday fixture, as the game against CF Peralada was postponed due to a weather alert. The Greens therefore return to action after two weeks away, facing a Pobla de Mafumet side that have collected seven points from their first five matches. The Tarragona-based team have recorded two wins -against San Cristóbal (2-1) and Tona (1-3)- one draw against Atlètic Lleida (1-1), and two defeats against Vilassar de Mar (1-0) and Vilanova i la Geltrú (2-3).
The two teams already met this summer during pre-season, with Cornellà claiming a 3-0 victory. In official competition, their most recent encounters date back to the 2015/16 season, in what is now the 2nd RFEF, when both matches ended goalless: 0-0 in Cornellà and 0-0 in Pobla de Mafumet.
Ahead of the match, Bruno Lorente highlighted the team’s ambition to perform well and secure their first away win of the season, following a particularly long week after the previous fixture was postponed due to heavy rain.
The match will take place this Sunday, October 11, at 12:00 PM at the Municipal de la Pobla de Mafumet.
