MATCH REPORT J5: A POINT THAT LEAVES A BITTER TASTE

UE Cornellà earned a point at the Nou Municipal after drawing 1-1 against CF Peralada in Matchday 5 of Group 5 of the Tercera RFEF. The Greens pushed for a win in front of their home fans but were unable to turn their persistence into a victory.

Ignasi Senabre’s side approached the match looking to take control of the game and find spaces against a Peralada team that proved to be a competitive opponent. The match ended level, with neither side able to gain the upper hand on the scoreboard.

Peralada took the lead in the 40th minute when Assane Diao finished off a quick counterattack, following a first half in which Cornellà had created some good chances, including a shot from Àlex Pla that struck the post. However, the game took a different turn shortly afterwards when Pol Blay was sent off in the 42nd minute, leaving the visitors from the Empordà region with ten men.

After the break, the Greens made the most of their numerical advantage, increasing the pressure in search of an equaliser. Their persistence paid off in the 61st minute, when Toni Paredes reacted to the rebound off the post following a shot by Pablo Servetti to make it 1-1. Despite their late attempts to turn the game around, Cornellà were unable to complete the comeback and had to settle for a point at home.
