MATCH REPORT J7: FIRST HOME DEFEAT

More than four months after their last home defeat, UE Cornellà were beaten in front of their own fans once again, this time losing 1–3 to San Juan Atlético Montcada at the Nou Municipal. The match, corresponding to the seventh round of the league season, was played yesterday, Sunday, at 6 p.m.

Senabre’s side had not lost at home since their 1–2 defeat to Vilanova in the play-offs. That loss, however, had a silver lining, as Cornellà progressed to the next round thanks to their 0–1 victory in the first leg and their higher finish than the Garraf-based side in the regular season.

This season brings different challenges. Yesterday, Cornellà went into the match determined to make their home ground a fortress and secure three important points. From the outset, the Green-and-Whites looked for opportunities against an opponent who also demonstrated their competitive strength.

As the minutes passed, San Juan Atlético Montcada managed to take the lead. Despite Cornellà’s attempts to respond and stay in the game, the visitors eventually secured a 1–3 victory. The Green-and-Whites were unable to turn the scoreline around and came away empty-handed on matchday seven.

Following this defeat at the Nou Municipal, UE Cornellà must now put the result behind them and focus on their next league fixture, away to Badalona on Sunday. The team will continue working to regain their confidence and return to winning ways.
