UE Cornellà make their league debut at the Nou Municipal

After opening their league campaign with a 2-2 draw against Atlètic Lleida, UE Cornellà’s men’s first team return to action this Saturday for their first official home game of the season at the Nou Municipal. The Greens will host Cerdanyola FC at 8:00 p.m. in the second round of the Tercera RFEF.

Ignasi Senabre’s side head into the game with positive feelings following their opening-day performance, an intense and competitive match played last Sunday at the Estadi Municipal Ramon Farrús. The team managed to pick up a point in a demanding setting, getting their season off to a solid start and boosting their confidence.

The challenge now is to build on that positive start in front of their home supporters. Cornellà will once again host an official fixture, and the Greens will look to make home advantage count, with the intensity and competitiveness required in such an evenly matched league as the Tercera RFEF.

“It’s our first home game and we want to start picking up three points at a time. We’re coming off a very demanding match where we could only take one point, and now we want to make that point count with our supporters,” explains Gonzalo Pereira, UE Cornellà captain.

Standing in their way will be a Cerdanyola FC side who also head into the second round looking to claim their first win of the season. It promises to be another demanding encounter, especially as the two teams already faced each other at the same venue a month ago, where every detail could once again make the difference.

Ignasi Senabre’s team have enjoyed a good week of training and head into the game with a clear plan. “We have a very demanding game ahead of us. We’ve had a good week of training and we know exactly what our game plan is to go for the win this Saturday,” the captain adds.

With the opening round now behind them, it is time to take the first step at home. This Saturday at 8:00 p.m., the Nou Municipal will once again turn green. The objective is clear: to claim the first win of the season alongside our supporters.
